"Sunburst Orange Clouds" is a phrase that was used in a spatial setting to invoke a specific imaginative image response from a viewer based on language and sensory stimuli. A wall was painted a neutral grey color and the phrase was adhered in bold black type. The sidewalls were lined with brilliant orange light that illuminated the white walls with color. When a viewer looked directly at the neutral grey image, his/her peripheral vision would pick up the subtle orange glow. To enhance the visual image, two bowls of chilled orange slices were placed on a white clothed table. Napkins were placed in between the bowls to encourage visitors to enjoy a slice. The smell of citrus filled the room and the taste of the fruit was juicy and fresh. The orange slices also acted as a stimulus for social interaction.
